How is Happy Gas Delivered?
- Giving happy gas is a way to help reduce pain and anxiety during dental treatment
- The gas is given through a small nosepiece (nasal mask), and the patient will be awake throughout the procedure
- The patient will still be aware of what is happening around them, but will feel calm, dreamy and floaty, warm, and have tingling in their hands and feet
- The patient may be a little forgetful and sleepy and might not be able to remember the procedure afterwards
How to Prepare for Happy Gas Procedure?
- Signed written consent prior
- Fasting 2 hours prior to procedure
- The patient can have a light meal, like jelly, soup, noodle, congee and a drink two hours before the procedure.
- The patient usually recovers quickly from the effects of the gas after their dental treatment has been completed.
